Warning, Warning!!!

For the record, do not EVER take the train from Budapest to Bucharest bound. I'm thinking the passengers in steerage on the Titanic had better traveling conditions. The train was absolutely disgusting, and that's coming from someone used to traveling no stars, lol. I've slept on asphalt and bathed with garden hoses and felt better about my traveling conditions than I did last night. The huge brightsides to the trip were that I had three wonderful cabin mates sharing the ride with me!!

Last night I received a nice and very informative summary of the Romanian history, as well as some great additional input on things to see and do while in Brasov. It's appearing more and more like my visit to Bucharest, when I finally get there, will be briefer than originally expected. I also received a tremendous amount of help from one of my cabin mates when I arrived in Brasov. We spent most of the morning talking as we watched the countryside and mountains pass by. And he insisted on helping me get to the hostel ok. I mean, he was amazing. He gave me local currency for a taxi and then was going to set me up with my ride until he learned because of the holiday today, the taxis weren't able to go where I needed to go. He then went even further and got us both bus tickets, and escorted me (as well as helped drag my crap) to the hostel. It was so amazing! I wanted to buy him lunch as a thank you, but he wouldn't hear of it. He also wouldn't take the local money back that he gave me (since I didn't use it on a taxi), insisting that I would need it anyway.

I'm still dealing with the stuffy head and cold that just won't quite go away, so the plan for the rest of the day is to lay low and hopefully finish catching up on posting pics to the blog. If the floor quits rocking anytime today, might head out to a restaurant that my hero recommended I try, then tomorrow hit it full blast.

A little side note. I often look for little signs. Things that are meaningless to most people, but mean something to me. I've been finding them lately. For instance,  first door in the last hostel building, in Budapest, belonged to Dr. Toth. Yes, I know Toth is a common Hungarian name, but it is also the last name of my best friend from childhood. Now, here at the hostel in Brasov is a dog named....Zara. The name of my last dog. And just as lovable as can be.

Later.
